Welcome to Oregon Park Appaloosas, located just 5 minutes from the magnificent Paddleboat town of Echuca on the Murray River Victoria, only 2 hours from Melbourne. Our 130 acre irrigated property is home to our family of Appaloosas, and our Dalmatian Gypsy. For almost 40 years, we have been breeding quality Appaloosa horses for people to simply enjoy, whether it is national or state level showing, pony club, weekend trail riding, working stock or adding to your own breeding program. Our Appaloosas are renowned for their temperaments, their kind gentle people loving natures, and often become family friends for life. And those who have one, often come back for another!
Apart from spots, all our Appaloosas have one thing in common…ApHC Hall of Fame sire Prince Plaudit. Grab a coffee and read about him on our stallions’ page. You’ll also read about another horse we’ve admired all our lives, ApHC Hall of Fame sire Wapiti. These two legendary sires are pivotal in our breeding program. Our senior sire Kemal Tyson’s Pride, is a grandson of Prince Plaudit. Our imported sire, Ultimate Affair, is the world’s youngest grandson of Wapiti. In 2008 I had the honour of meeting Mr. Jim Wild of Flying W Ranch, owner of Wapiti, who confirmed this for us.
With these two outstanding representatives of the breed so close-up in our pedigrees, free of many of the genetic issues faced by todays ‘modern-bred’ horses, our Appaloosas are still seen kicking up their heels in pastures well past their mid 20’s.
